Open Source.
Open Minds.
As the global leader in open source software, Red Hat believes in progress through the power of collaboration. To advance their vision, we helped them create an experiential event that brought that ideal – the true value of open source – to life while tackling a key industry issue.
Building More Than Code
Change starts with education.
Red Hat has always been passionate about ensuring the diversity and accessibility of the tech industry. We created a technology-driven, arts-focused initiative dubbed CO.LAB. Part creative classroom, part coding workshop, CO.LAB brought together middle school-aged girls from underserved communities to teach them the basics of both coding and photography. The three-day curriculum culminated in a student-created art exhibit – a public demonstration of open source principles in action.
A Catalyst for Inclusivity
CO.LAB became a powerful example of how technology, art, and people can come together to lay the foundation for meaningful change.
To an industry that relies on continuous innovation, finding new ways to open doors for different backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences becomes even more critical. CO.LAB was a purposeful first step.
The Bottom Line
CO.LAB was successful in igniting plenty of conversations – both online and in the press – while establishing Red Hat as a key leader focused on the future of its industry.
